The following Aboriginal tribal weapons were collected by Mr S. Fyfe,
teacher in the Jigalong Community in the 1970 's.
Jigalong Remote Community School is situated in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Jigalong is the Aboriginal Community of the Martudjtara Tribe or Martu people from the Great Sandy Desert.
The people speak Martu Wangka as a first language and continue traditional cultural practices.
The Martu Population fluctuates between 100 and 500 depending on the time of the year and on what
community activities are going on at the time.

Old Aboriginal Killer Boomerang for Hunting

A classic example of an old Aboriginal Hunting Boomerang.
Collected from Jigalong in the Great Sandy Desert in the 1970s.
Hand carved from hard wood, it has pointed ends, a good length with a decent weight.
The surface has developed a light patina from age and use.
Note that there are a number of diagonal markings in areas across both sides,
a small chip on one end but hardly noticeable but otherwise it is in excellent condition.
Measures 65cm or 2'2" long by 6.5 cm
