Didgeridoo Healing - The breath

The breath

"Breathing may be considered the most important of all the functions of the body, for, indeed, all the other functions depend upon it." - Ramacharaka: Hindu-Yogi Science of Breath. Oxygen is fuel for our body as much as food is. The body is designed to take 75% of its energy through breathing in while we eliminate 70% of our toxins when breath out. Oxygen also cleanses the cells by oxidation and enables waste products to be carried back to the lungs via the bloodstream.
Breathing holds the key to healing and by learning to breathe correctly you will maintain our health and well being. Breathing generates the energy to accelerate your growth, builds confidence. It makes you calm, centered and focused.

Origin of Yoga Yoga's Origin go back at least 5000 years to the beginning of human civilization. Early Yoga and archaic shamanism had much in common as both sought to transcend the human condition.
The primary goal of shamanism was to heal members of the community and act as religious mediators. Archaic Yoga was also community oriented, as it attempted to discern the cosmic order through inner vision, then to apply that order to daily living.

Pranayama or breathing technique

In yoga, Taoist long full extended breath and regular breathing exercises are part of the recommended teaching techniques of Pranayama.
Prana - yama: Prana is energy and Ayama means stretch, extension, expansion, length, breath, regulation, prolongation, restraint and control, it describes the action of pranayama. Pranayama is very important in yoga, considered to be a high form of purification by Breathing in the life energy and breathing out the toxins.
Pranayama techniques allows a well being feeling to be experienced, by energizing and healing effects on the body and by allowing the mind to become calmer ready for deeper state of mind. The link between mind and breath is also very important; the need to focus your attention on the breath is primordial when we practice pranayama so the mind gradually clarifies becoming ready for deep meditations.

Learning the complete Breathe

Breathe by the nose and keep mouth closed. Choose a quiet place; make sure to exercise in fresh air, sit in a good posture spine straight to encourage a free flow of energy. Breathe deeply and slowly without strain.

When Inhaling, Push the stomach forwards as you breathe in. - Open the ribs sideways while still breathing in. The stomach will automatically go inwards slightly. - Lift the chest, collar bone and shoulder up while still breathing in. It should be done in a smooth, continuous rhythm.

When Exhaling - Drop the collar bone, chest and shoulder to relax and the air will go out automatically. - Push the stomach in slightly to expel any remaining air in the lungs. Exhaling is done more passive way, except for the second stage when the stomach is pushed in. Breath correctly

Transformational Breathing / Healing

The Transformational Breathing technique is derived and similar from re-birthing, a process developed by Leonard Orr in the 1970's in the US. Transformational Breathing and Re birthing are both designed to improve health by energizing your body, by liberating your memories and feelings trapped in our bodies and by providing a stronger connection to our spiritual selves. Transformational Breathing re-trains your body to breathe naturally like a child. Starting from the abdomen, all the way to the top of the chest, the entire respiratory system is used in a relaxed and fully connected cycle. The involvement of the diaphragm is a key to supporting the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the abdominal organs. Transformational Breathing

Circular Breathing / Re-Birthing

While the re- birthing stresses upper chest breathing, the inhale and exhale are connected together so that there are no pauses in the breathing. The exhale is relaxed and not controlled at all.
Breathe in and out through the same channel (that is in and out the nose or in and out the mouth.) The exercise is to breathe Energy, not just air. In both case the increase of oxygen intakes into the body helps to revitalize and increase flow of energy, the physical tension relaxes. While it helps the mind to liberate memories and trapped feelings, it also dissolves limiting self-beliefs and connects us more fully to our Spiritual Selves.
Participants witness a wide variety of benefits, including less anxiety, more joy, better health, and increased spiritual awareness from the intensive breathing sessions. Circular Breathing - Re-Birthing

Didgeridoo and breathing

Didgeridoo playing can be described as a sort of pranayama, a path to control and then purify the mind through the breathing.
The circular breathing used when playing didgeridoo is different from the Re birthing circular breathing; it allows the didgeridoo player essentially to breathe in and out at the same time, keeping the sound continuous for some time.
The player draws breath from the lower abdomen into the lungs while pushing the air store in the mouth with the checks muscles into the didgeridoo to get a continuous drone, and then go back to using the normal drone.
The basic drone is achieved by blowing gently while vibrating the lips like a raspberry. The mouth chamber, the lips, the tongue and the use of the vocal cords can creates different tones, harmonics and rhythms.
It is a meditation practice in itself and demands discipline and inner control. It benefits the player by massaging the internal organs, strengthening the diaphragm, increasing endurance, relaxation, awakening consciousness and illuminates the mind. Didgeridoo breath
